Who is HEIDI?
HEIDI is a complete system for creating digital passports on smartphones as well as ID cards. It is based on the eduTAP concept and generates wallet passes for Apple and Google (Android) phones. An app is not necessary, but HEIDI can be integrated into apps. The passes can be generated in different security levels.
Similar systems are used for airline tickets and for paying with Apple or Google Pay.
All you have to do is hold your smartphone up to a reader and the right pass for the service is automatically selected.
HEIDI works immediately without unlocking the smartphone and continues to work for a week even when the smartphone is empty. There is no need to tap around to start an app.
HEIDI digital passports can be mixed with HEIDI ID cards and operated in a compatible manner. The most important European systems and standards are supported.
How does HEIDI work?
HEIDI is based on the wallet systems of the major providers.
It consists of a part on the Internet (communication with Apple and Google) without data storage (HEIDI-CLOUD) and a part at the university (HEIDI-LOCAL). Both communicate with each other in encrypted form.
Both components are provided by ANA-U.
HEIDI-LOCAL runs as a virtual server or as a physical computer at the university. There, the HEIDI-CONNECTOR is individually connected to the university’s IDM.
HEIDI-CLOUD runs distributed on secure, redundant servers in the private cloud of ANA-U GmbH.
All personal data remains at the university (personal data). To issue the passports, only the absolutely necessary data is sent in encrypted form to the passport holder’s smartphone. In HEIDI-CLOUD, personal data is only processed for a short time for the passport creation process in HEIDI-CLOUD and then immediately discarded.
I am already a customer of ANA-U GmbH. What do I need in order to use HEIDI?
If you are already a customer, you only need to install HEIDI-LOCAL together with us. This is provided as a ready-to-use container. You can then issue cards or digital passes as you wish.
I am interested but not yet a customer of ANA-U GmbH. How do I get started?
We connect your data with the HEIDI-CONNECTOR and install HEIDI-LOCAL on your premises. This is typically done in a short time. If you also want to issue cards in parallel, we supply the appropriate hardware.

Can I integrate HEIDI into my Identity Management system or into my app?
How much does HEIDI cost me?
Compared to card systems, the total costs are only a fraction. Typically between 20% and 60%, as you need less hardware and maintenance.
How is my privacy protected?
All personal passport data remains in the IDM of the university. Only passport metadata is stored in the HEIDI-CLOUD. This sets us apart from other providers.
Which services can I use with HEIDI?
Library, ID, discounts, events already now. Access and payment systems coming soon.
We therefore offer three levels of passports:

Is HEIDI compatible with my card system?
Yes, you can operate both in parallel.
